Ballyseede Castle is delighted to announce that it has received recognition for both the Castle’s sustainability efforts and its exceptional workplace culture. The Castle has been awarded the esteemed ‘Gold Level’ Certification from Fifty Shades Greener and has proudly been named as one the leading Hospitality ‘Great Places to Work’, marking a double celebration for the team.
Fifty Shades Greener Gold Certification
Fifty Shades Greener has awarded Ballyseede Castle its prestigious ‘Gold Level’ Certification thanks to the Castle’s sustainability achievements and its ongoing sustainability journey. Fifty Shades Greener’s certification provides transparency on how an organisation contributes to sustainable development, with their certification standards aligned to the UN’s Sustainable Developments Goals (SDGs). Following a thorough evaluation process measuring Ballyseede Castle’s environmental impact, social impact, supply chain and much more, Fifty Shades Greener awarded Gold certification to Ballyseede Castle.
The Ballyseede Castle team are passionate about sustainability and are committed to making a positive impact on the environment by implementing effective green practices and procedures throughout the Castle. Working towards their sustainability objectives, Ballyseede Castle has implemented several initiatives including changing all light bulbs to LED lighting; converting food waste into bio-fuel; planting native trees throughout the estate; and designing The Belfry, its newest wedding ceremony venue, to support pollinator-friendly plants and species.
Ballyseede Castle’s long term sustainability objectives include becoming carbon neutral, with targets set for 2024-2025 including reducing packaging waste by 20%, and to increase locally produced and supplied goods by 10%. Ballyseede Castle has also recently moved away from single-use plastics and are now using VOYA Organic products in its bedrooms and bathrooms throughout the Castle, which use 100% recycled materials.
Ballyseede Castle – A Great Place to Work
Ballyseede Castle has also recently received ‘Great Place to Work’ recognition. The much sought-after accolade acknowledges businesses that prioritise employee wellbeing, focus on positive employee experiences, and promote a positive and inclusive workplace environment.
A 73-question confidential Trust Index survey is carried out within an organisation, and they will be Certified when their overall employee survey results are 65% or higher. The Certification is granted to businesses that promote positive and aspirational company cultures and values, and is recognised in over 60 countries worldwide, with more than 7,000 organisations surveyed each year.
